The AE body shape features modern design elements to achieve high playability and create a well-balanced sound that follows the concept of the AE series.
The combination of the specially designed Scalloped X Bracing and Tone Projection Back Bracing, produces a versatile sound character.
A rich sustain is provided, which works for both finger and pick playing. The all-mahogany body generates a woody, warm tone with a smooth
response when fingered and produces powerful high-mids with a clear projection. The fretboard inlays also add a sophisticated feel to the guitar.
A.I.R. Port
The AE140 features our new A.I.R. Port construction. Acoustic - Information - Response
The A.I.R. Port is for better listening for the guitarist. Holes in the sides facing you. It's a great feature. A clear trend among acoustic guitars, but no major brand offers it at an affordable price range. Plus, what the others have, is basically just a hole drilled on the body.
Ibanez felt that there had to be some better way for better entrainment..
After trying many different sizes and types of holes and designs, they decided on the perfect sound port design, placing angled wooden blocks that throw the sound out of the port. They also decided to apply it to a wide range of models.
