The solid lid in Engelmann spruce is combined with sides and bottom in the exclusive Indian rosewood. The TD-12E is built as a Dreadnought model, which is the most widely used guitar model. Dreadnought guitars are known for their big, full sound, and they often appeal to guitarists who emphasize lots of bass and a clear, crisp treble. The Dreadnought models are usually very well suited for chord playing and fingerpicking, and due to the muted midrange it is great as a vocal accompaniment, and therefore very popular with singer/songwriters. The Holy Grail There is a reason why most guitar enthusiasts have called the combination of Spruce and Rosewood the "HOLY GRAIL OF ACOUSTIC GUITARS". The sound is almost divine, and the more complex overtones of Engelmann spruce give the TD-12E a natural and pleasing clarity. The Indian rosewood is very generous at both ends of the tonal spectrum, and it almost seems as if the TD-12E has a natural built-in chorus. The deep bass tones are both clear and rich, and the soft midrange is perfect for vocals, while the clear treble tones make the TD-12E perfect for both fingerpicking and dynamic and rich chord playing. New construction methods On the TD-12E, Tyma has used design principles and construction methods that elevate the TD-12E to a higher class. Among other things, the TD-12E is constructed with Tyma's Double-V tuning mechanism, which makes the top of the TD-12E significantly more flexible, and as an additional, and not unimportant, detail, the massive top is treated with torrefaction. Torrefaction Torrefaction is a process where the wood is heated to a low temperature in an oxygen-free environment, which reduces impurities in the wood and results in weight loss and increased stiffness. The process produces a chemical reaction in the wood, similar to the process wood undergoes when it is dried for decades. The result is an extra resonant lightweight top that produces a tone similar to that of an old guitar that has been loved and played for decades. The tone of a torrefied top is impressive, and when combined with rosewood on the bottom and sides, it results in a guitar with extra tone, projection and warmth. The neck/body joint is also new and provides a smoother neck that feels comfortable all the way up the fingerboard. Built-in 2-channel microphone system The TD-12E comes with a built-in Tyma T-200 microphone system, which consists of an amplifier and condenser microphone that is placed under the bridge, as well as an acoustic microphone that Tyma mounts in the sound box. If you need to amplify the guitar, you can do this too. Delivered ready and top adjusted The Tyma TD-12E comes complete with D'addario XS strings, and of course undergoes a thorough adjustment of the neck and string height by our experienced technicians, as well as an extensive test of all electronics before it is delivered to you.
