M80M Meshuggah Signature.
M80M is a wallet-friendly version of Meshuggah's signature model M8M.
A guitar the metal innovators and style shapers Fredrik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström have used for many years now. It is a guitar that started a whole new genre of music, and started the trend of 8-string guitars in metal. The main difference between the M80M and the M8M is that the M80M has a bolt-on neck while the M8M has a through neck.
Neither is a standard guitar or a beginner's instrument, they are extreme guitars built exactly to Meshuggah's specifications. With its 29.4" inch neck, strings tuned in (from high to low) D#, A#, F#, C#, G#, D#, A# and F, it's an instrument that takes some mastering. But if you do, the rewards are manifold. The scale on the neck gives an incredibly firm and clear low register with stun and separation. Must be experienced to be understood. No other standard 8 on the market even comes close.
The neck is a 5-piece maple / walnut construction with KTS titanium reinforcement. A very stable and strength-resistant construction. The neck is screwed into an ash body that is stained black so that the wood grain shows through. A raw and aggressive look, just as Fredrik and Mårten want it.
The bridge is an Ibanez FX Edge III-8 bridge, a fixed bridge but which is still lockable at the head to keep the guitar in tune no matter how hard you play.
The guitar is equipped with a Swedish-made Lundgren M8P humbucker in the bridge position, a pickup made to maintain clarity of tone even with a lot of distortion.
