The VideoMic Pro is a true shotgun microphone designed to be used with DSLR cameras and other portable audio recorders. At the heart of the VideoMic Pro is a brand new ½" condenser capsule that provides broadcast-quality sound via a 3.5mm mini-telephone connection. The capsule has an incredibly low intrinsic noise of only 14 dB. The pickup area is narrow super-kidney, which means that ambient noise is minimized and your recording is focused on what is in front of the camera. The integrated Rycote® Lyre® shock protection system separates the microphone capsule and electronics from the mount, isolating it from external physical factors that could otherwise create unwanted noise in the microphone. Lyre® provides superb acoustic suspension compared to traditional elastic solutions and will never wear out. Easily accessible on the back of the microphone are the power button, filter and level controls. In addition to the microphone's own frequency recording of 40Hz-20kHz, there is a selectable high-pass filter of 80Hz that reduces low-frequency sounds such as traffic noise. Under these controls, the level settings decrease or increase the sound level of the recordings. -10dB reduces the sound, which is optimal in noisy environments. +20dB is specially designed for use with DSLR cameras. This setting reduces the camera's microphone input level which effectively reduces the noise from the camera's comparatively low quality audio circuitry. The VideoMic Pro mounts through a standard shoe mount for cameras and also has a 3/8" thread for easy mounting on boompoles.
