The Meinl Artisan Doumbek has a rich, deep bottom with nice, ringing high notes. The Doumbek originates primarily from Egypt, but is also commonly used in music from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Eastern Europe. The main difference between a Darbuka and a Doumbek is how the skin is attached and how it is tuned.
